My name is Chester, I live on the border of North Dakota and Minnesota. I am a "foodie." I travel quite a bit and love experiencing new food. I also co-own a local restaurant where I live.

Before & After

This is a plate size portion of Smoked Meat from Schwartz’s Delicatessen in Montreal, it was so delicious!  It had nice marbling throughout, it was smoked to perfection and had great flavor.  The plate was big enough for 2 people and comes with bread.  If you’re from the US, don’t dare call this corned beef, they will cut you!

Canard en Conserve (Canned Duck)

  • Magret Duck Breast
  • Foie Gras
  • Balsamic Glaze
  • Buttered Cabbage
  • Roasted Garlic
  • Thyme

So this was an extremely interesting dish.  The waiter brings over a large cutting board with a large plate with some mashed potatoes in the center, a tin can, and a can opener.  He opens up the can and quickly and gracefully turns out the inside of the can on top of the potatoes.

I have no idea what all that French stuff says, but after eating at Toque, I imagine it says something like…
Eat at Les 400 Coups!  It is better than the shit they serve at Toque, and we know how to use salt.

Rotisserie Laurier!

We just got back from dinner at Rotisserie Laurier, oh man was that delicious!

I had a 1/2 chicken (w/ cole slaw, fries, and gravy) and my boyfriend had the pork sandwich (pickled red onion, arugula, and aioli on brioche), we also ordered a side of smoked meat mac & cheese.

My chicken was great, it had great flavors, crispy skin, and every piece was moist.  The sandwich was really great, the greens had this awesome crunch to them, the pork was spiced well, and the brioche was nice and toothsome.  I don’t normally care much for cole slaw unless I am at KFC, their cole slaw tastes just like KFC!  It wasn’t creamy like theirs, but the taste was definitely there.  The Mac & Cheese was ok, I don’t think I’d order it again.

After dinner we immediately thought about hitting it up for lunch tomorrow and going right to the bar.  The bar menu had about a dozen items on it all ranging from $4-12.  So I figured we could do our own make-shift tasting menu.
